Computer woes

Last night I put my old computer back together. This was my primary machine up until a few months back when I built a newer and faster one. I stripped the old machine for parts but the only things that moved on were hard drives. So the parts for the old machine never got put back together until last night.

To my suprise and consternation once I got it hooked back up it refused to boot, with the fans spinning up for about 2 seconds before dying. The power button also refused to work. I did find out that whacking the top of the case got it to start again but it still only gave me a few seconds of life each time.

I don’t know if the power supply went bad or if it’s some kind of motherboard problem, but at this point I don’t know if it is worth it to take the time and try and troubleshoot it. I really don’t need the extra computer anyway, although I probably would have had some fun putting some different OS’s / distros on it.
